Shimmery Cocktail Table: Washes and Shimmers

This cocktail table project was SO much fun to do!  It included so many pretty Shabby Paints Chalk Acrylic Paint colors that I mixed and then made into washes as well as Shabby Paints Shimmer Paints!

First I used these 4 colors to make the washes for the inset of the top as well as the rectangles on the drawers. I made washes (VERY watered down paint) out of Dynasty Blue alone, Dynasty Blue mixed with So Serene, Dynasty Blue mixed with Lillian Gray and then Cranberry Bliss alone.  I layered the washes on over each other ending with the Cranberry Bliss.

Next I mixed Smoked Pearl Shimmer Paint with Stunning Silver Shimmer Paint.

I painted the rest of the table and the knobs with this mixture.
I just love the way this table turned out!!

Spruce Up With Shimmers!!

I always feel a little bummed this time of year - the holiday season is over.  It's cold and grey outside.  To add to it I'm fighting a cough, chest congestion...blah, blah, blah.  Plus it even looks blah in my house after I take down all the Christmas decorations.  So I thought I'd take the opportunity to redecorate a little bit.  The bank account is extremely slim after Christmas and 4 family member birthdays in November and December!!  That makes it hard to redecorate so I decided to do what the pro's suggest...I shopped my house!

I wanted to share one project I did using Shabby Paints Shimmers that was so fast and easy and made a big difference!  It kind of makes me feel like I went out and bought something new for myself!

I found some candle holders that needed some freshening up. I've had them forever and I still like them - just kind of bored of seeing them.  They were screaming for a spruce up and I had just the thing!  I had a mixture of Smoked Pearl and Stunning Silver left over from a table that I'll be showing off soon so I cleaned the candle holders off and took a brush to them!  It was the perfect amount of sparkle to make them look brand new again!

Take a look around your house and see what you could spruce up with some shimmers and put in a new place of honor!  Now, I'm off to figure out where I'll put my new decorations!

Second Announcement - NEW COLOR!!

I promised you a second announcement!  Back about a month or so ago Pantone released their new color of the year Marsala. I haven't been a fan of the past few colors so I was expecting more of the same but then I saw the picture...

and I immediately fell in love with this color!  I think it's so pretty, warm and inviting!  I couldn't wait to incorporate it into my home!  And they usually come out with nail polish colors matching the Pantone color of the year - now that the kids are back in school I can go on a search for it!

So imagine my excitement when Shabby Paints founder Shannon announced that Shabby Paints was getting a new color based on this gorgeous color - MARSALA WINE!!!

I CAN'T WAIT to get my hands on this color and am on the hunt for the perfect first piece to paint with it!!  It is ordered and will probably be a week or two before I have it in my hands but I'll let you know when it goes out to the stores!!  In the mean time we can dream of all the beautiful Marsala Wine projects we can do!!

Shabby Paints Hashtag Contest - Win Free Paint

#WHOLOVESCONTESTS  #WHOLOVESFREEPAINT

2015 will be an exciting year for Shabby Paints!  We are kicking it off with an amazing year long contest!  Every month, 10 people will win FREE PAINT!!  Please go and read all of the rules but here are the basics...

Post a picture of your finished Shabby Paints projects along with the hashtags #shabbypaints and #giveaway and then the colors that you used (with hashtags as well).  These can be posted on your own pages/walls/etc on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Hometalk, Pinterest, Searchable Blogs, and Google+.  We highly suggest using a watermark on your pictures.  It's not a requirement to win but it will keep you safe from others stealing pictures of your work and passing it off as their own.  It happens.

It will be so exciting to see all of these projects popping up!!  Good luck!!  I hope to be hearing from you soon as a WINNER!!
